Elisa Paulina Herrmann is a textile artist and fashion designer from Germany, currently based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work is deeply inspired by traditional craft techniques such as crochet, knitting, and embroidery, which she reinterprets through a contemporary lens.
This approach results in a body of work called BUBBLES, soft sculptures and soft paintings that invite tactile engagement. The haptic quality of Paulina’s work is central as she wants people to feel the urge to touch and to connect with the pieces.
Since 2014 she has been creating textile-based objects, but she has been exploring different crafts since she was a child, always knitting, crocheting and making things with the hands, trying to connect material storytelling with childhood memories and playful form. This is also inspired by her background working as a knitwear designer in luxury fashion, brands she worked for include Vivienne Westwood, Gucci and Marc Jacobs.
Paulina is currently open to commissions. Detailed CV and portfolio upon request. Objects and drawings are for sale, please feel free to reach out if interested.
